Making a good living and residing in a healthy environment contribute to the quality of life of people working in the Bécancour area. The regions of Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec count eight hospitals where there are several specialists and general family practitioners. There are also several dental and medical clinics, seniors residences, ambulance services, rehabilitation centres and one radiation oncology centre.  


The area of Bécancour - Trois-Rivières has a significant scale primary and secondary school network both private and public. Post-secondary education is served by the Cégep de Trois-Rivières, Collège Laflèche and the Université du Quebec à Trois-Rivières. In addition the Collège Ellis offers business training. The Collège Laflèche offers, among others the courses of the International Baccalaureat program and the École internationale de français de l'Université du Quebec à Trois-Rivières offers a French offers a highly acclaimed French immersion program. English students have also access to primary and secondary level English schools in close proximity to Bécancour.

Living costs

In Quebec the living cost is very low compared to other comparable jurisdictions in North America. In addition, the employees of the companies established in the Parc industriel et portuaire de Bécancour benefit from a higher standard or living than the regional average. 


The cost of lodging in the area of Bécancour and Trois-Rivières is one of the lowest in Canada.  

Culture and leisure

National Park, symphony orchestra, art and culture museums, historical sites, art galleries, amphitheatres and several auditoriums, cinemas, interpretation centres; the area of Bécancour et de Trois-Rivières offers plenty of different activities to suit every taste and budget including shows, popular or classical music concerts, variety shows, new release movies or activities for little ones.

In all seasons the immediate area also offers sports and outdoor activities like golf, hunting and fishing, bicycle paths, soccer, water sports, hiking or horse riding, snowmobile, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, multi usel activity centres, tennis, curling, bowling, marinas, arenas, hippodrome. Golf lovers will find about ten golf courses and nature lovers will find closeby, many outdoor spaces, lakes and rivers… in short, a real paradise!

Official languages

Even if French is the primary language, bilingualism (French-English) is widespread. In Quebec education is delivered mainly in French, but temporary foreign workers can choose the school and which of the two languages their children are to be taught in while they are here.
